After looking for my craft robo for the longest time I have given up.It must have got lost when I moved here to my Daughters.
Can I ask what cutter/plotter is best just now as I need a new one. I would like one that I can use with svg files.

Sue, it's a shame I'm not closer as I've got a Robo that you could have for free.
However, cutting machines have come a long way these days and although I love my Zing and would recommend it, I'd also suggest having a look at the Silhouette Cameo 3, which has superceded the Robo.  There are more UK suppliers for its accessories than with the Zing.  I always have to order in bulk to get the best deal for mats etc for my Zing.  I know Pam loves her Silver Bullet and if money isn't an issue then that is also worth looking at. 😀
I wouldn't consider a Cricut as you are so limited with software to use with it.
The other popular machine is the Brother cut and scan, but this one concerns me because the screen is so small and I like to work on my computer screen.

I make my file's on my laptop using Inkscape (free) or Sure Cuts A Lot software (paid for) but you can also Brothers on line app called Canvas or if you have a pc (rather than a mac) there's a version of canvas you can download and install you don't have to make file's on the ScanNcut machine I don't because of the small screen. I have 2 ScanNcut machine's one is wireless so I can send my files from Canvas or from my pc to the wireless one or put them on a USB and plug it into my machine to use the file's with the non wireless one. I also have an original Cameo and Portrait but haven't used either since getting my first ScanNcut about 3 years ago because I prefer those. From what I recall you would need the Designer Edition a paid for upgrade of Silhouette Studio the software that's replaced Robomaster to use SVG file's

I have a silver bullet cutter - great because you can cut most materials with it, and use any mat you like! I could never get on with print and cut on it though, and I now have a brother scan and cut as well, which I also love. As Doreen says, you don’t need to design on the screen on the machine, canvas workspace on the computer  makes it much easier.

Oh no Lynn, I love it too much for that 😀. I’m being greedy and keeping both. The silver bullet is great. For cutting svgs, only use the scan n cut for print and cut, and “fussy cutting” .
