Sorry Babs, I wish I could help. It looks like it's to do with the settings, but not sure.

Val have discovered it only happens on GCF not on CA ,so it looks as if I may need to use CA now instead of GCF. So used to GCF but know most of you use CA now

Babs it is years since I have used CA and I am sure when you get used to it you will not look back.  Lynn's video tutorials are very helpful.  You were talking in another thread about how big things are - in CA there are grid lines and measurements, so you always know what size something is coming out at.  I tend to start by drawing a rectangle/square the size of the eventual card and work from there.

Although I've not used GCF for ages, I'm pretty sure this is a settings issue. As you know, I'm not at home so can't test it but you may need to relook at what you are telling the printer to print?
Hope you sort it Babs.

Lynn you could be right but what is puzzling is that these lines don't show on anything today I have printed in CA.
Printer is set to A4 and was printing on A4 in GCF.
So I shall give up for now until I am more used to it after 15 yrs of Epson printers there are differences.By the time you return home who knows I may have solved it (not).  Shocked Shocked

I really hope you have solved it by them Babs. 😁😂 Sorry I can't be of help right now.
Just a thought.... do you use guide lines in GCF? Is it these that are printing?

Babs, when you  go into GCF do you choose a template or design from scratch? I've just tested it on mine. I chose design from scratch, half fold tall  put some text on the first page and printed - no black line printed.

Thanks Pam, I am now at my wit's end.I have removed and replaced GCF Still the same problem.Canon tell me it's GFC problem, so now I have e mail them.Hope I get a reply.Know I can use CA and I will but I have saved at least 100 projects done in GCF ,they all print with the line on.
Thought about buying updated GCF ( now up to 11) cost approx now 50 pound but there is no saying that would work....so I just have to accept starting from the beginning.
